Is it a law they all must follow? lol
Xandria
Krypteria
Sirenia
Tristania
Katatonia
well. Yeah 5 bands isn't really a good example. I'm sure Vicky will give me a lengthly list.
Why do so many symphonic metal/gothic metal band names end in "ia" or "um"?
Ahahahaha I remember Peaches and I had this same conversation. xD
Aside from the ones you mentioned:
Silentium
Angtoria
Cadaveria
Imperia
Anorexia Nervosa
Aquaria
Arthemesia
Avantasia
Empyrium
Equilibrium
Insomnium
Vesania
Susperia
Offertorium
Necromantia
Jeez I never really realized exactly how many there were. And that's just the ones I have in my library lol.
Reply:I thopught it was a requirement to belong to the Genre actually.
I always thought Tristania based their name off of Tristan and Isolde and that Sirenia was in reference to the Sirens...those mythical beings that had such enchanting voices they would lure sailors to their doom.
At least..tha twas my take..sicne most of the metal of that Genre is fantasy and Mythology based.
Reply:well Katatonia is a disorder actually spelled Catatonia (there is also a band too)
For My Pain is a gothic metal band.
For the others, I don't know.
Reply:well most of them are from foreign countries so that may have something to with with it.
hehe, i'd give you a list but i dont feel like typing it all out.
Reply:I don't know. If I had to guess though, it would be to make the names sound more feminine. I am serious. That is the only reason I can think of why.
Reply:I think Kamelot's considered symphonic...
But yeah weird huh?
Reply:They sound like cool names actually haha, never herd of them though. Maybe it's just a coincidence (sp?) *shrugs*
Reply:because IAh UMmmm dont know...
Reply:Hello
